This gives the KTM twin a 75-degree firing order, which gives the 790 a familiar KTM sound and feel because that’s the same firing order as the firm’s 75-degree V-twins. KTM claims the engine produces 94 horsepower and 66 ft-lb of torque, which is right on par with the 790’s principal competitors, the Honda Africa Twin and the BMW F850GS.
Joined: Jun 16, 2017. Oddometer: 109. I test rode a standard AT, a KTM 790 Adventure S and a Yamaha Tenere 700 all within 3 months of each other. I knew what I wanted and it was a twin cylinder adventure bike, capable of solo trips with luggage or two up trips sans luggage, with a mix of slab, backroads, fire roads and rough two track.
You meet the nicest people on a Honda. The Africa Twin is an easy-going, friendly ADV that will be very reliable, predictable and get you there (eventually). The KTM will be the awe-inspiring, tire eating, barely domesticated beast that will exhilarate and frighten you at the same time.
With 95bhp at 8,000 rpm and 65ft/lb torque at 6,600rpm it has similar figures to the Honda Africa Twin or BMW 850GS, but due to its weight KTM 790 Adventure vs BMW F850GS: The verdict
2024 KTM 790 DUKE. The KTM 790 DUKE has a reputation. Not only is it known to be devastatingly accurate, with the unmatched agility you'd expect from a single, merged with the meaty punch of a twin, but for being a no-nonsense street-brawler. Boasting an uncompromised 799 cc LC8c parallel twin motor nestled into one of the lightest and most

These are the pick of the crop right now, and the Honda has won every ADV test we've put it
The Star: KTM 790 Adventure. Not the R. The standard one. Since everybody’s pushing the limits and flying high over the sand dunes with the R, we had a different approach: a real-life adventure trip, with luggage. So we took the 790 Adventure from the KTM factory in Austria and start riding South via Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia & Herzegovina
If you have ever ridden or owned a KTM 950/990..I would like your thoughts and comparisons between it and the new Africa Twin. I have nearly 50,000 miles on a 950 ADV-S (which is the tall one with 12" of suspension) and I am wondering if it is time for a change. Mainly, we use the 950 for 2-up Adventure Touring in the Colorado Mountains, 50%
