Bought a Golf Mk5 gti dsg Petrol yesterday only to discover the AC would not blow out cool air. Took it to kwik fit for a re gas but was told it was leaking somewhere. Found out since this is a
The most common fault is the pressure switch it goes porous - this is situated on the LHS when looking into the engine bay. Other items could be defective but when it's re-gassed get them to add the dye to allow leak detection This link shows the price of other items in the system including the switch!
Daft one this. But I noticed today a strange noise. If I have the engine running and fans to low with the air con off its fine. If I then turn on the air con I can hear what I would describe as a dry bearing noise from in the dash. I know you can hear the air con work as the engine tone changes and I hear the pump start to work.
Hi, I have a VW mk5 Golf 1.6 FSI 2004. The problem with it is My heaters dont get very hot AT ALL, it just blows luke warm air when on the highest setting. It does not have climate control. I have check a few things like, Coolant level (head gasket is fine) Thermostat (fine) The heater matrix pipes are very hot and so is the actual heater rad.
They originally quoted me £780+ but after speaking with VW head office and taking my full VW service history in to account (my car is an '06 and out of warranty) they reduced the bill to £130. Unfortunately the parts are on back order so it could be a while before I get working air-con again but still £130 beats £780 any day of the week.

I realise it will save weight.. but the chap is running stage 1, so I could think of less impactful things to do to the car to improve the performance. Yes, I'm sure if you don't reprogram the CAN HVAC controller and just remove the aircon gubbens the heating will
The heating acts normally for the first 30 minutes then starts to cool down to the point where i have to whack the heating up to 28c to get any heat, then it comes through hot. Think nothing, nothing HOT. Couple of points. - The coolant temperature reaches and remains at 90c after approximately 10 minutes of driving.
The first sign that your air-con needs regassing is that the air being blown from the vents is not as cool as it used to be, or it doesnāt feel any different when the AC is switched off. If you canāt remember the last time the system was regassed, itās probably worth doing. Alternatively, many specialists are happy to perform a free check.
Hope that fixes it, the biggest problem with low gas, and with not using it regularly (all Aircon) is that the gas carries around the lubrication for the seals so hopefully it will re-pressurise and you can cool down again. 5Dr Black GTI, DSG, Leather, Xenons.
